AEGEAN Airlines Reports 9% Increase in Passenger Traffic for Early 2025 and Announces 1.8 Million Additional Seats for the Year

AEGEAN Airlines has reported a strong start to 2025, with a 9% increase in passenger traffic during January and February compared to the same period in 2024. The airline transported approximately 1.9 million passengers across its international and domestic networks, offering over 2.4 million seats—a rise of 8%.

In these traditionally slower months, AEGEAN achieved a 13% growth in international passenger traffic and a 3% increase in domestic traffic, maintaining load factors similar to the previous year.

Building on this momentum, AEGEAN plans to expand its capacity by offering an additional 1.8 million seats in 2025, bringing the total to over 21.5 million seats. This includes approximately 13 million seats on international routes—1.4 million more than in 2024—and 8.5 million seats on domestic flights, marking a 6% increase.

The airline is also enhancing its international network by introducing new direct flights from Heraklion, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Santorini to Istanbul. Additionally, AEGEAN will launch direct connections from Athens to Erbil (Iraq) and Baku (Azerbaijan), and from Larnaca to Rome during the summer season of 2025. The company is further strengthening its presence in the Iberian Peninsula, the Balkans (Albania, Bulgaria), Egypt, Italy (Rome, Bologna), and Switzerland (Zurich), while continuing significant investments in routes to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco.

Domestically, AEGEAN is adding seven new routes to enhance connectivity within Greece. These include four new connections from Heraklion to Rhodes, Naxos, Corfu, and Kos; two from Rhodes to Chania and Santorini; and a direct link between Thessaloniki and Syros.
