AirAsia Expands Network with New Routes in China
AirAsia is reinforcing its presence in China by adding two new routes: Penang to Shenzhen and Kota Kinabalu to Shantou. This expansion brings the total number of routes operated by AirAsia to and from China to 33, solidifying its position as the leading foreign low-cost carrier in the region.
Starting from October 28, 2024, AirAsia Malaysia will operate four weekly flights between Penang and Shenzhen. The Kota Kinabalu to Shantou route will commence on November 16, 2024, with three weekly flights.
To celebrate the launch of these new routes, AirAsia is offering special promotional fares. Travelers can book flights between Penang and Shenzhen starting from RM329 one way, and from Kota Kinabalu to Shantou starting from RM299 one way. These promotional fares are available for booking through the AirAsia MOVE app and the airline’s website until September 8, 2024, for travel between late October 2024 and March 2025.
Additionally, Malaysian citizens can enjoy visa-free entry to China for tourist visits of up to 15 days until the end of 2025, making these routes even more attractive.
Both Shenzhen and Shantou, located in Guangdong province, offer unique attractions for visitors. Shenzhen is known for its impressive skyline, including the Free Sky observatory on the 116th floor of the Ping An International Finance Centre, which provides breathtaking views of the Shenzhen and Hong Kong skylines. Shantou, on the other hand, offers a more relaxed escape with destinations like Nan’ao Island.
