Air travel to and from Swedavia’s airports during the ninth month of the year showed a continued increase. In September 2017, 3,848,000 passengers flew to or from Swedavia’s ten airports, which is a five per cent increase compared to September 2016.
Of these passengers, 2,567,000 were international, an eight per cent increase compared to the same month last year. Domestic volume decreased one per cent to 1,281,000 passengers.
A total of 2,414,000 passengers flew to or from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, a seven per cent increase compared to the same month last year. Some 1,907,000 of them were international passengers, which is an eight per cent increase. Domestic traffic was up two per cent to 508,000.
Traffic at Göteborg Landvetter Airport also increased seven per cent, with 654,000 people flying to or from the airport in September. International passenger volume was up nine per cent over last year, with 513,000 passengers flying internationally to or from Göteborg Landvetter in September 2017.
An increase in traffic for September was also recorded at Åre Östersund Airport, where 47,600 passengers flew to or from the airport, an eight per cent increase over last year. Similarly, Kiruna Airport saw an increase of seven per cent, to 20,100 passengers.
So far this year, 31,858,000 passengers have flown to or from Swedavia’s airports, which is a seven per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Overall, the number of international passengers was up nine per cent while the number of domestic passengers was up three per cent.
